1. Service
EngineCologist is a free experimental (MVP) service that computes acoustic characteristics of engine sound recordings. It provides acoustic analysis only, not a certified mechanical diagnosis.
2. No diagnostic guarantee
Results depend on the recording device, environment and recording technique. The service does not detect or confirm mechanical faults. Do not rely on it for safety-related decisions; consult a qualified mechanic.
3. Safe use
Only record a running engine when it is safe to do so. Keep clear of moving parts (belts, fans) and hot components, do not record while driving, and never run an engine in an enclosed space.
4. Contributions
Contributing a recording is voluntary and requires separate consent as described in the Privacy Policy. Only contribute recordings you made yourself and do not include personal information in descriptions. Abuse of the service (automated mass uploads, unrelated content) is not permitted.
5. Liability and changes
The service is provided “as is” without warranties to the extent permitted by law. These terms may change; material changes to the consent wording result in a new consent version. [Operator details and governing law to be added.]
