Draft version 2026-10-20

Draft – this text must be reviewed by a legal professional before production use.

1. Basic analysis (no storage)

When you record your engine, the audio is sent to our server, analysed in memory and immediately discarded. It is not written to our database or file storage. The basic analysis is available without registration and without giving consent to data contribution.

2. Voluntary data contribution

Only if you tick the separate consent checkbox do we store: the original, unmodified audio recording; the vehicle information you provide (manufacturer, model, generation, model year, fuel type, displacement, engine configuration, number of cylinders, engine code, turbocharging, and your free-text description); optional recording conditions; technical metadata (audio format, sample rate, channels, browser type, operating system, microphone settings); the computed acoustic features; and a record of your consent (timestamp, consent text version and language).

A random identifier generated in your browser is stored to group contributions from the same browser. It is not linked to your name or any account.

Purpose: developing and improving engine sound analysis technology, including acoustic reference databases and machine learning models. We do not use recordings for unrelated purposes. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

3. What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, vehicle registration number, VIN or precise GPS location. VIN-like codes entered in the description are removed automatically. Recordings may contain incidental background sounds such as voices, so we do not describe them as anonymous.

4. Third-party services

Voice input uses your browser's built-in speech recognition, which may process the audio on the browser vendor's servers (e.g. Google for Chrome, Apple for Safari). If AI-based text extraction or photo recognition is enabled, the text or photo is sent to the configured AI provider for processing only and is not stored by us. Photos are never stored.

5. Storage, security and retention

Contributed data is stored in access-controlled databases and private object storage. Contributions are kept until you withdraw consent or until they are no longer needed for the stated purpose. [Retention period to be defined.]

6. Your rights and withdrawal of consent

You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. Use the deletion code shown after contributing (also saved in your browser under “My data”) to delete the recording, vehicle information and features immediately. A minimal record of the consent and its withdrawal is kept as proof. If you lost the code, submit a deletion request on the “My data” page.

You also have the right of access, rectification, restriction, data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Slovenia: Informacijski pooblaščenec). [Controller contact details to be added.]
